We apologize for the interruption yet again, but we have been informed that GFL is running a day behind on the garbage schedule due to the weather. Village garbage will now be collected on Tuesday, January 23rd. Thank you for your patience and stay safe out there!

Due to the inclement weather, the VOHC office will be closed today, January 22nd. Due to this unforeseen closure, the bill due date will be pushed back until 1/23/24. Thank you.

VOHC Residents: Due to the extreme cold temperatures, GFL currently cannot get half of their trucks started this morning. Garbage pickup will be pushed back a day, so please leave your cans out for tomorrow morning, or remember to set them back out before 6 am on Tuesday, January 16th. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Parking Ban is still in effect, and if you have received a card on your car from the Village, you will be contacted via mail within the next business week. Thank you!

Our last Grant of the year goes to Matt Ricketts! Matt was awarded a grant to fix the siding on their home on Farmington Rd. Grant applications for the 2024 VOHC Grant program are now available to print off and submit. Postcards should be arriving shortly for those that are within the BDD/TIF districts.

We are sure you've heard all about the massive amount of snow we are forecasted to get starting tonight, into Wednesday. We aren't quite ready to call for an official parking ban yet, but we would like to remind everyone that anything over two inches of snow will kick the parking ban into effect. Please find alternate parking arrangements so Roger, Brad, and Jim can safely maneuver and clear the streets for your driving pleasure and to avoid a fine. Thank you and stay safe!

Attention Hanna City Water Customers:  The Village of Hanna City (VOHC) purchases its water from Illinois American Water.  In order to keep pace with inflation and price increases the VOHC Board has approved an increase of 2.7% for calendar year 2024. The VOHC Board remains committed to keeping water prices competitive as compared to other municipalities. Attention Residents: The Village of Hanna City (VOHC) has seen an increase in wastewater system repairs and costs associated with the disposal of “Flushable” wipes in the system.  The public works team has had to clean and repair multiple lift stations, multiple times because of this issue.  Most recently, an outside vendor had to be hired to clean out clogged sewer lines from “Flushable” wipes.  See attached photo.  Please note that even though the wipes say flushable, they are not and should not be sent into the VOHC wastewater system.  Doing so damages the system and creates unnecessary costs for the Village that may ultimately have to be passed on to residents in the form of increase sewer rates.  Hopefully by working together we can eliminate this issue and the associated damage and cost.
